HOW TO PRAY
Please pray that both the campers and counselors would have a fun, safe, and spiritually growing time!
EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION
If you have a serious family emergency and need to contact your child while at camp, you may contact the Forest Home Roundhouse at 909-389-2300.
CAMP LOCATION
While there are two “camps,” they are owned and operated by the same company and are at the same site. There is never a time that your child will be unsupervised. To ensure that every Sandals Church counselor has the time to further build upon the relationship they already have with your child, they will only have 7 children in their group!
HOMESICKNESS
Homesickness is common at this age group and the Forest Home and ourselves are prepared for it. Here are a few tips to minimize your child’s struggle with missing home.
1- Have them stay a couple of nights at a friends house the weeks before camp.
2- Rather than saying, “if you don’t like it, I will come pick you up” which tends to set them up for failure, encourage them by saying things like, "You are getting so big! I am so proud of you for staying at camp for a whole week!" or "You are going to have such a great time! I’m so excited for you!"
If homesickness persists, the Forest Home staff will have your child give you a call. This is your opportunity to love on your children and encourage them to continue in this great experience.
In past, some children have written letters about how camp was not fun in the early portion of the week when their homesickness was at it’s worst. Be sure not to overreact and trust that we are loving your children through that difficult time and will surely be in touch if it does not improve.
CELL PHONES
Cell phones do not get reception and it is difficult to track down the children for a phone call, so be sure to call only if there is an emergency! The emergency phone number is 909-389-2300.
CANDID PHOTOS
Candid photos of everyone are posted online throughout the week so be sure to check out the photos online. They can be found at www.foresthome.org. Just click on the “camp photos” link in the “Media Central” Box on the right, select the camp (Indian Village 3rd-5th or Adventure Mountain 6th), select the week that we are attending and you can see your kid(s) at play!
PACKING (back to top)
Click HERE to download a printer friendly Packing List
IMPORTANT INFO!!!!!!
LUGGAGE - It is important that each camper pack only one bag (no wheeled luggage), one backpack (will be useful for day hikes etc.), and a sleeping bag (roll the pillow “in” sleeping bag) as they will only be gone a week and will have to carry their own luggage! Also be sure to LABEL EVERYTHING!
MEDICATIONS must be in their original Pharmacy container with written instructions and in a clearly labeled zip-lock bag. The bag should be clearly labeled in large print with your child's name, "Sandals Church," and your phone number.
SPENDING MONEY - A maximum of $20 can be sent to camp for souvenirs and such. The money needs to be placed in an envelope which will be provided for you at registration so please don't pack it away.
SWIMWEAR - One last tip is to have your child wear their dry swimwear to camp, as immediately after getting settled, there will be an opportunity to go for a swim!
PLEASE DO NOT PACK
OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION – The onsite nursing department has any over the counter medication that might be needed.
FOOD – The cooking staff does a marvelous job of feeding your children over the week and any food left unsupervised for any amount of time attracts furry woodland creatures. No gum, snacks, candy, drinks, or anything! Yummy snacks will be provided for the trips to and from camp.
ANYTHING VALUABLE – Camp is a very dirty place where, on occasion, things get lost or broken. Make sure that no treasured stuffed animals, blankies, etc. make their way into the luggage.
ELECTRONICS – Cell phones (there is no reception where we will be), radios, computers, "nice" cameras, CD/MP3 Players, Gameboys/PSPs/UFO’s/gaming systems, etc.
WEAPONS - of any kind (not even air soft guns, Swiss army type knives, hatchets, bazookas, tanks, etc.)
OPEN-TOED SANDALS - I know it seems like we are betraying our Church, but the camp rule is that we wear closed toed shoes for the protecton of our little piggies.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT ADVENTURE MOUNTAIN
If your child is going into 5th and 6th grade, they will be attending Adventure Mountain! Below is what those who run Adventure Mountain have to say about it!
Adventure Mountain offers the experience of a lifetime for 6th graders! It is a camp that builds bridges between the traditional “junior” and “junior higher.” Here campers are challenged to live life to the full while exploring their world purposefully. Adventurers live in “safari tents” which allow for comfortable slumber either indoors or out on the tent deck under the stars. We are fully committed to creating an experience where young people encounter God’s love in a profound way, demonstrated most fully in and through Jesus Christ. Our community of qualified and loving staff is trained right here at Forest Home in order to provide a fun, safe, and life changing camp experience for each child who enters our grounds.
A mountain of “adventures” awaits your child during their week of camp:
• Skate Park
• Archery & Air Rifles
• Rock Climbing
• A Three Story Tree house!
• Arts and Crafts
• Batting Cage
• Photography
• Low Ropes Course
• Hiking
• DJ the radio station
• Swimming (lake & pool)
• Journalism
• Field Sports
• Morning Bible Study
• Contact Missionaries (via email)
• “Adopt-a-animal” in our nature center
• Evening worship and sound Biblical teaching
We view each activity at camp as an opportunity for campers to grow physically, socially, and spiritually. As they participate, young people grow in their confidence, develop life skills, build lasting friendships, expand their worldview, and most importantly they deepen their commitment and relationship with Jesus. A week of camp at Adventure Mountain will be an experience they will never forget!
